4ocious, sorry to hear that yours is offline now. Is a SD card required to store the data or just the SIM for send/receive?

Well after Audi switched Google Earth off at the end of last year and it mysteriously reappearing a few weeks ago I noticed last week it had gone off once again getting stuck on the loading screen.

Im in the U.K. but I believe it was a global decision to drop it last time.

I wish they would make their mind or at least have the courtesy to let us owners know what they are up to.

First of all they shut off Street View, then Google Earth, then switch Google Earth back on, then switch it off again and somewhere along the way I lost the ability for my car to load the online destinations I send from the app but only in the U.K. where I live. The rest of Europe seems to be working with online destinations…

I'm not sure but I could previously stored destinations as well as remotely pre-load a trip/destination through my Android Audi Connect service.

I haven't used my Audi since last Saturday when my Google Earth quit. I drove it today and Google Earth restarted. But upon restart it quit again. What's up?

Audi vehicles were initially manufactured to support Google Earth, but Google has since created a new software update in which the hardware in older vehicles will no longer be compatible with. Audi has taken steps to manufacture hardware that is compatible with the new software in MY19 and newer vehicles, but MY18 and older will no longer be able to use the Google Earth functionality as of December 31, 2020.

My Google Earth is working again. I select 2D and Goggle Earth and it works. Surprise, surprise!

Same here. It was gone for the second time by 2 weeks ago, but back yet again yesterday when I checked in a good coverage area.

Does anyone have an update on whether the Google Earth overlay is still up and functioning. For those that are could you please provide me with what version software your MMI is running on. I am wondering if the software version might be the difference between those who's vehicles are working and those who are not.

It seems to work at times, but not all the time. I normally switch from 2D to google maps and wait a few minutes. It does time out when unable to reach or connect and defaults back to standard

I’m not sure if my software version but can check later tonight.

I know I should just give up on this Google Earth thing but I am still holding out hope. Are any US drivers able to get the GE function to work in their cars these days? If so please let me know what MMI version you have. Mine is not functioning and just gets stuck on the "Please Wait" loading screen.
