Default Horn going off

I've just been out in the car 2016 and the horn started going off randomly and I have to press the horn to make it stop. It started at about 5 minute intervals but quickly became every 30 seconds or so! I have pulled the fuse for the horn at the moment but just wondering if anyone has seen this before or has any ideas?

Maybe an issue with your clock spring. I know when clock springs start acting up, all kinds of weird things begin to happen involving the steering wheel. How many miles do you have on your car?

Car has about 35k on the clock. I've noticed of late there is a very faint squeak when you turn the steering wheel. Not sure if it's related? What's the clock spring?

An airbag clock spring is used to connect the steering wheel to other electrical devices such as the airbag safety system, radio volume and station selections, horn and cruise controls. This is done using a series of small wires wound between an upper and lower plate which is mounted between the steering column and the steering wheel. This part can go bad when these wires become fatigued and break causing a short or open circuit.

35k miles seems a bit premature for a clock spring failure but may you just got a defective one.

Any way to check it without pulling the steering wheel apart?

While I am not certain that it would throw a code you could scan your car with VCDS or similar to see if the car is logging an error. It would be a good investment regardless in the long run for any DIY on your car.
