Default How to remove center console side panels

Hi guys,

I am trying to get behind the MMI and airco units for installing a CarPlay box and was wondering if I can remove the smaller part from the side panel as in the picture. Has someone done this before? I tried to pry it out but does not seem to budge. I am hesitant to try more force. Can this be done?

I was hoping there is a gap behind it that allows me to pull some cables in the right direction.

Thanks!

I do not believe there is a gap. If you pull sturdily at the bottom of the whole trim not the insert it will pop away from the carpet. You can feel behind it which is what I did when I was going to try and take them off to remove the front carpet. I didn't do it in the end because I found a work around. By
