Incredibly Low RPM/high MPG at 65MPH

I noticed that my 3.0T, with AC disabled, indicates only 1100 RPM on the tach when I'm doing 65 mph sometimes. Can this be correct? Dare I ask what the 4.0T and S8 manage at 1000 RPM?
I've also noticed that I can easily get to 32 MPG and stay there at 65 MPH with the cruise control on. Not bad at all for a LWB. Who needs a hybrid?
It does seem that I can't get anywhere near that MPG, even with the steadiest foot, when I'm not using the cruise control. 22 MPG is my best so far.

Lou, is that with the AC on or disabled?
In browsing the forum, I also found a note on the forum that the "battery" icon at the far right of the "MPG computer display" indicates that the car is charging a capacitor (or similar). This stores energy for use in restarting the car during an auto-start/stop cycle(?) Pretty neat if true. I imagine the auto start/stop would be very harsh on the car's starter and battery. I need to rummage through the manual again.
The auto start/stop can be somewhat annoying when the traffic signal changes and the car doesn't restart, but my point-to-point commuter mpg is way down. I have most of the signal patterns memorized and can typically get a solid 60-90 seconds of off time at each stop. Too bad it doesn't help when waiting for a metering light. The people behind you don't appreciate it if you're anywhere except on top of the car in front of you.

The Canadian version does not come with the start/stop enabled. It might be something a vag/com cable could switch on. I'm pretty sure I'm missing the ushbutton on the dash to toggle thar fearure too though.
The green battery is the car driving the alternator instead of the engine during decelerating for my version. It charges the battery, and powers the cars electrical systems during this time of coasting. Not much to be had there, but it all adds up.
I want to enable the lap timer in the mmi, for the oil temp, and boost gauge that comes with it.

I'd be interested in engaging the lap timer tho. What other features is the S8 missing that could be enabled by Vag-com?

The US version of the S8 doesn't have auto start stop either. My S8 is missing the button for it in the dash. Don't even know if the tech is on board for it.

The Start Stop button is not present on the S8? You're not missing much LOL... Over the life of the car, you'll save less than one monthly payment
..
The Lap Timer is interesting. With the boost gauge I was surprised to see how seldom there is any boost!

Is there a way to get the car to cruise lowered at a slower speed? Right now it drops at 120km/hr, but thats prety close to a ticket for speeding. My gas consuption at 120km/hr is about 9.2L/10km, and at 110km/hr its about 8.8L/100/kms.
I have a raise susspension setting, but thats it. In auto and dynamic it seems he same. I think they both lower more at 120km/hr.
