Purchased a new, early build 2011 and was looking to upgrade the MMI software. I've had a few on-going glitches with the voice recognition software and was wondering if an update would resolve them. One of my "complaints" was that later build 2011 software allowed the "enter destination" command to accept a complete address, e.g., after the prompt, say "123 anystreet, anytown, state." The nav system would accept the voice string and ask "would you like to start route guidance?".

On the early versions, it requires enter city, pick your city from the list by selecting line number, then enter street, select from list, then enter number. Although it works, it is quite antiquated,especially when comparing to the Apple iPhone voice recognition system! I went to my dealer to see if I could get an update, My analogy was that my MMI software needed service pack 1. They told me that it was not possible; that later MMI software versions would not work on my car. I find that hard to believe. My 2004 A8L had a number of MMI software updates, so I believe the D4's are amenable to this as well. My Software Verson: HN+_US_AU_P0110

I'b be interested in what versions others have, especially those those with 2011 cars. Also any D4 owner with experience updating the MMI software who is willing to share their knowledge/experience would also be appreciated.

I've tried working with my Audi Advocate, but that hasn't yielded anything to date.

He had his 2011 A8 MMI updated to the latest spec from his dealer.
