New S8 -- First Impressions
Picked up my new S8 today. I have read the forum over the past month or so while waiting -- thanks to all posters. Not sure i have a lot new to say but here goes:
First, I am coming from a '12 Porsche Cayenne TT. CTT is a great car for a cross over SUV. But there is no comparison in terms of handling and sporty feel -- the S8 wins by a mile. FWIW, backseat and usable trunk are probably better in S8 as well. For me the S8 drives much smaller, while actually being more usable. A winning combo in my book!
I had the previous generation S8. This is a much more nimble car in my view and much quicker. I was generally familiar with the MMI interface as the new car just seems like a progression in that regards. But wow there are a lot of buttons and layers in the interface now. I would guess that 95% of it never gets used once set (or ever), but it is very busy between the input areas (*****, pads, etc) and the software. Would be very nice simply somehow.
i dont think the lines on this car are quite as good as the last one, but still the winner for me in the large sports sedan category. 5 seats is very nice vs. Panamera TT for the family and IMHO this is just a better looking car.
Very happy so far!

The new S8 is an awesome car IMO and very fast for its size. I've driven one and it amazes me how quickly it accelerates for its size and is still really comfortable.

Congrats on the new ride! I just picked up an '08 w12 b/c I like the lines/look of that body. Test drove a new S8 and was very satisfied with the sportiness of the shorter wheel base. Enjoy every mile!
