Open Trunk with No Hands
Someone mentioned this the other day. Awesome feature, but I can't find it in the manuals. It's incredible when you have grocery bags in both hands, or just trying to impress the adorable woman who insisted on carrying your 6-pack of yogurt. (Hey, I'm single...how do you think I can afford this thing?)
There is a trick to it, though. You need to be behind the middle third of the car, about 6 inches away. Then slow kick twice underneath the car. A fast kick doesn't seem to work. Just putting your foot underneath doesn't seem to work either. If I had to guess, the first kick activates the detection mechanism. It opens the trunk when something moves from underneath the car outward, then back under. I say this because it triggers before I pull my foot back the second time.
If you're standing too close, it doesn't work. My guess is that they're using the pre-sense sensors, possibly with the backup camera to tell whether someone is standing in the right place.
I've been able to make it work reliably, even in the rain.

Good to know how this works. The salesman at the dealership tried to show me, only to look really dumb. I tried it once while carrying groceries, also to only look like an idiot. I'm out of town now and can't try it, but I assume the S8 has it as well?
