...265 x 40 summer tires. Love the rims and they really work with the D4, but I have no use for summer tires and don't want to go down to 19s for winter. Is anyone aware of all-seasons that size up to 265 x 40 x 20? There are a few limited options out there for 275x40x20 all-season UHP; wondering if that would fit the D4.

Apparently there are no 265x40x20 A/S tires out there just yet. According to the A8 customer service manager, Audi is working with a tire manufacturer and there will be an all-season 265x40 tire available for the 20" wheel option---expected availability is Winter of next year (Dec 2011/Jan 2012). Since the A7 and A8 take the same size 20" tire, it makes sense to offer it as an alternate to the Summer tire...Unfortunately it's taking soooo long to get it out. Oh well.

BTW, I asked if a 275x40x20 would fit the D4, since there are a few A/S options out there---the answer they received back from the suspension engineers was an unequivocal NO.

Too bad, I would have ordered that option but summer tires only don't work for me. Eventually choices will appear.

Totally agree. Well, the D4's 45 aspect ratio on the 19" wheels should cushion the ride a bit better than the previous 40 --- both on the same 255mm width tires. Handling shouldn't suffer much with a half-inch higher sidewall profile, hopefully.
