Suggestion to change MMI behaviour for car to stay online
Hi
I don't know if Audi has anyone monitor the forums, but I don't know where to write, so here it is:
I have an A8 2014, with MMI 3g+ and the car is setup with Wifi hotspot for 3G mobile connection.
In Norway, 3G is stone age and all operators have pulled support for 3G.
My suggestion would be this:
What if the MMI was reprogrammed for NOT support wifi hotspot in car thru sim and 3G module in MMI, but instead use wifi - hotspot setup in car hotspot, to connect TO a hotspot, like a mobile hotspot.
NOT use 3G in car as gateway for the MMI, but instead use the wifi as a gateway to connect TO your mobile hotspot. In this way the car's hardware will not be old and useless even the car would be 10-20 years old.
Mobile phone is changed every 2-3 years
I guess for those with the insight in QNX, it could be possible to make a script for reverse settings in this way and just put a SD card and run the script for make these changes.
Anyone up for a challenge :-) ?
I think it would be a decent idea, anyone?
Thanks for listening
Regards
Speedy

My wife's Volvo does this. I'll connect it to the home wifi to download huge map updates. It would be great if Audi did the same as you could get a cellular hotspot and use that as the modern.
