I probably put 10-12k miles on them before I traded it a year ago. They seemed to hold up okay but intermittent squeaking had begun. That said I don’t know that I would recommend them. Even though the job wasn’t too difficult, I really wasn’t looking forward to a redo. Just be sure to get the VW ball joint tool. The rocker style cost me a day of frustration.

This oncoming week or next one I will be changing control arms and tie rods. Wish me luck lol.

Car has 116k miles and its about time to change all of the elements for better performance.

Hardware is mostly from MOOG, that include stabilizer bar bushings and links from MOOG.

I've just ordered the four front upper control arms from FCP Euro - all Lemforder parts, as a set, for $312. I already have the links and bushings left over from my previous A8L. Oddly enough, it was a 2011 in Emerald Black Metallic and you're right... it is a gorgeous color! Ennyhoo, I'll probably have to wait until I have access to a lift, to do this job.

Let us know how it went and any tips or advice you have from it.

Cheers!!

@Sawdusty Dan I will update after I'm done. So far I'm going to get two cans of liquid wrench. From what I understand it's the best on market to remove bolts.

It’s not a bad job with the right tools. You’ll need the VW ball joint puller from Snap On. I lost an entire weekend trying to use a substitute.

The part number for the correct tool is Tool # : T40042 - Puller - Ball Joint. Paid $119.93 a couple of years ago.

Good luck with the repair.

It looks to me like this one (made by Schwaben) from ECS Tuning will work, at about a quarter the price - $32.26 + s/h. Any thoughts on this? Despite the car I drive, I don't spend more than I need to, to do the job right.

@Sawdusty Dan I actually own a lot of Schwaben tools. I bought a set when they first came out on ECS in 2015. I still own them and all of the work on my cars is done with those tools. I ordered Schwaben Ball Joint Separator. I think it will get delivered tomorrow. I will give you an update how good it worked.

OK, I've gotten all the parts I (probably) need for my front suspension. All Lemforder and OEM, from our good friends at FCP Euro and my local Audi dealer's parts department. However comma I'm going to do a close inspection of the lowers, to determine if I ought to replace them as well. Big bucks involved there, as well as the additional labor and down-time. I'm kinda half-way on whether to "Just Do It" and be done with all of it... Your thoughts?
(NototiousGLU - Did you receive and/or use that ball joint tool, yet?)

'13 A8L with 78,500 miles, lots of city driving in there and he's got The Rattles; not bad, but noticeable for sure.

@Sawdusty Dan I did get a tool and it is very solid in my opinion. I didn't have a chance to use it yet. I am waiting for rest of my order to be shipped from CA. It should be delivered today. How much did you spend on the control arms you have? Below is how much I spent on mine from rockauto.
