So, I received the 27BQ Service Letter for my 2020 A7. However, when I went to the Recalls section of www.audiusa.com and entered my VIN, it is stating that there aren't any active recalls / service campaigns for me. Does this mean that my stater-alternator is one of the newer ones that won't need replacing? (I have set up a June service appt, but made a note for the Service Tech to contact me if the parts are not available or if I do not need a new starter-alternator.)

Yours will need to be as the new 4N1 was not out in 2020 which is the MY of your car.

Ironically, this massive V6 engine recall was just announced by reliability king Lexus/Toyota yesterday:

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a6...engine-debris/

This same engine is in the LS500, which we almost bought (dodged a bullet there!). No official remedy exists yet but those who have had this issue prior to the recall had to have their short block replaced.

What truly strange times we live in where Audi makes a more reliable vehicle than Lexus.

Are you sure this is also affecting the LS500? Perhaps it's the same engine but that would surprise me.

That said the LS500 has been an absolute cluster f***. It's been horrible reliability wise.

Yes, serious engine failures have been reported, in some cases multiple times on the same vehicle. The LS wasn't included in the recall list (yet) but it's been suffering from the same issues afflicting the rest of the V35A lineup like the Tundra and LX being recalled.

Toyota and Lexus's strength was always using tried-and-true tech like naturally aspirated engines and NiMH hybrids. Little surprise that when they venture into more modern areas like turbocharging and EV's that they end up with pie on their face.

I wonder what kind of impact will this have on Toyota/Lexus's ratings.

Default Happy for you with the 2020's

I have contacted Audi customer service and my Audi Dealer. I was told Audi has NO intention to replace the BSG on any of the 2021-2023 models. I am curious if others with a 2021-2023 A8 are concerned about being stranded due to the BSG failure and unwilling to take their cars out of town let alone on a long trip, which is where this car shines? I know I am. I always take another of my cars. I am extremely disappointed in how Audi has handled this situation. I have been patient for them to come up with a fix, thinking in good faith that they will fix the known BSG problem in my car when it was available. Well its available and they are not planning to do anything for me. This is my first Audi and will be my last as I have NO confidence in the car. I bought the car brand new with a MSRP of $115K and I have no trust in taking the car across state lines. I truly believe the terrible resale values of Audi's are related to the BSG more than anything else. I will suck up the terrible depreciation and move on once my warranty is up in May of 2025, that is unless they make me whole with a BSG replacement.

I highly doubt what you were told is true. Give it time and then react accordingly. Multiple credible sources have told me this is a staggered 'recall'.
