On my drive home yesterday evening, the cruise control would not set and kept giving me the following messages:
"Driver assistance systems: currently limited. Affected systems will be continuously updated in message memory"
"Adaptive cruise assist: currently unavailable. See owner's manual"
I checked all the cameras and sensors in the front of the car and nothing appeared to be obscured. I have had these messages appear almost every day but the system always rectifies itself and everything works as it should except for yesterday. The cruise control refused to engage. Any clues on this issue from anyone who experienced this? Thanks!
I did a scan for codes this morning and a slew of them showed up as can be seen from the attached pictures. I hate not having cruise control (even a dumb one) but I guess a dealer visit is necessary now. I also saw the same issue pop up in many other Audi forums with different models. There is even a technical bulletin from Audi on the same issue even though it stated it was for 2019 and 2020 A8's along with other models. By the way, weather is crystal clear, and all cameras and sensors are clean with no obstructions.
Too many codes for me to think it’s a simple fix. Some event while driving, large pothole, snow/dirt likely triggered it. Let us know what the dealer says.
Yes, way too many codes....I have an appointment to take the car in two weeks. I cannot recall any potholes or other environmental issues that could have triggered this. Most of my daily drives are on the highway and I do not drive it when it snows. I will let you know what the dealer discovers.
Heavy rain will sometimes cause active cruise control to shut down temporarily. But that does not seem to be your issue here. Definitely take to dealer.

No rain at all when this happened. Very frustrating not having regular cruise control without the ACC. Apparently, if your ACC fails on an Audi, you cannot engage cruise control without it. My Land Rover allows you to engage cruise control without AAC.
I think it has gone too far with all the computers in today's cars. They don't communicate properly with each other and dump the whole problem on the driver when they disagree internally.

I purchased a 2019 in December. In January I had the same exact issue. Dealer told me they had to re-install the software for the driver assist system. I think it was about an hours labor. I looked into it and there had been several technical service bulletins regarding the issue. That was about a month ago and so far, no more issues.
