Bought a 2020 CPO S8 Friday. Electrical error Monday. Sounds like it’s my BSG.
My dealer hasn’t given me a timeline yet.
Anyone know what the lead time is?
is the 4.0 V8 BSG different from the 3.0 V6?

It's shortening (the lead time). The BSG differing (if it even does) won't affect resolution - it would just mean they get xyz BSG vs another zyx BSG part - they are made by vitesco/continential. Commonly, people are without their car for two to three months. But, again, that timeframe seems to be shortening.

The irony of CPO and the immediate failure is not lost. Ughhh

OOF! I feel the gut punch. That sucks big time. Just goes to show how sporadic and unpredictable this problem is. Hopefully with the new availability of parts you should be sorted in a couple of weeks.

It seems as if the BSG problem is common both to the V6 and V8, ie, the EA839 and EA825 engine family. Is that correct?
the reason I ask, I am on the verge of ordering a 2024 Porsche Cayenne, and I will have to go with one of those engines. I’m assuming the BSG will eventually be rectified (electrical pun) , but I’m starting to think it may be a good idea to keep my old 2014 Cayenne as a “beater.” And this also even further extends my ownership horizon for my D4 S8, which doesn’t even have stop/start. S/S stays off on the 2014 Cayenne. Mike

dealer called me now a couple days later saying it’s just the 12v battery that needed to be replaced. I’m skeptical but I guess I should be happy. Picking it up today.
