Happened yesterday in shopping center parking lot. Think the girl hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. She is maybe a car length and half from her stop sign. I had the ROW and had just turned into street maybe 2 or 3 car lengths earlier.
All airbags went off and I ended up w bruised ribs/side I think from the seat belt when it tightened up on impact. Difficult to stand up, sit and walk but hospital cleared me.
2020 with only 15k miles and zero issues, pre covid build, was gonna buy it and keep it another 4 or 5 yrs but it looks to me from initial impression that there's gonna be some frame damage and the passenger pillar took a hard hit.
Sucks but what can u do.

Glad you are ok, and sorry about the accident. Never fun dealing with insurance companies and claims. Make sure you get alternate comparable transportation from the other party's insurance, until your claim is settled in full to your satisfaction. It is obvious that the other party is 100% at fault.
Not sure how insurance works over in the US compared with the UK but will they consider repairing it ? If not, can you buy it back from the insurers and repair privately ?
Looks a nice spec car , and while it clearly has plenty of damage, it was a low speed shunt.

If the insurance company totals the car, which is very likely since the passenger pillar took a hit and all airbags deployed, one can buy the car from the insurance company. Once you buy a totaled car from an insurance company. the title of the vehicle will be branded as a salvage vehicle and that will impact its resale value.
Man, real sorry to see that...But aside from some aches and pains you're physically OK (mostly), so that's what's important. Emotionally, well another story I'll bet. Yeah, accidents happen, but I'd really want to strangle that young lady...at least in my mind. So if the car is totaled, have you thought about what's gonna replace the S8?

Ok thanks, same as the UK. I have done that once with a car I liked, and it was repaired and sold with a damage classification for more than the repair and buyback cost me. Just thinking about the original poster's 'love' for his car.
Very sad to see, I lost my 7 series to a kid who ran a stop sign in his 3 series. I’m glad you’re doing OK.
No amount of defensive driving can save you from such instances I have learnt. Bigger better things for you in the future. I hired valuation expert to negotiate with the guilty party’s insurance company since they tend to lowball when it comes to expensive cars such as ours. Made a big difference. Hope you feel 100% soon.
