When considering the Carlinkit, it's crucial to understand what you might be missing out on and why these devices weren't originally intended for video streaming. Let me break down some key points:

1. Compatibility: These devices don't allow you to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto simultaneously with video streaming. This means you'll need to purchase a separate SIM card, costing around $40 per month on average, totaling over $1440 over three years.

2. Limited Features: You won't have access to features like Apple TV mirroring or connection to the Apple ecosystem, which is a significant drawback for Apple users.

3. Voice Activation: These devices lack proper voice activation, making it challenging to control while driving, especially with small keyboard on the scree unsuitable for car screens.

4. Software Limitations: They run on an unlicensed version of Android software, meaning you may lose access to the Android store, and software updates are uncertain.

5. Updates and Support: Updating the device involves a cumbersome process of downloading files from the website onto a USB stick formatted correctly. If the unit breaks, there's no support available, leaving you to purchase another one.

We offer a solution on our website that eliminates the need for a SIM card. It allows simultaneous use of CarPlay, Android Auto, and video streaming, along with compatibility with streaming devices like Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku TV, and more. Plus, you can use your phone's hotspot for streaming, and updates are received over the air, ensuring you have the latest features.

As a bonus for forum members, you can get a hundred dollars off using the code "audiworld100". Our product is made in the USA, backed by a five-year warranty, and you can speak to someone over the phone for support.

Most important if you go on the website you will see the video specifically for Audi Dashlynx.com

The only downside of this unit or possibly any unit that plugs into the USB port. When you first start the car and your proximity sensors go off, it cuts power to the unit for some reason so you have to unplug and replug it in. Drove me nuts trying to figure out if I had a defective unit or not. Turns out it was from that. This happens in my Q8 at least. Just something to be aware of.
