Odd residue under engine oil cap

I've owned a few Audi 3.0 TDi's including my current A8 50 Tdi and also one that had been remapped with over 100,000m already on the clock.
I've never had oil cap mayonnaise in any, and oil consumption was very low (maybe 1 litre every every 8-10000m).
They are slow to warm up because they are much more thermally efficient than petrol/gasoline engines, but your symptoms are not normal.
I would try another garage.

I will call the dealer tomorrow although I am certain they will say this is normal. I will update when I talk to them.

I've just remembered that there used to be a problem with the oil cooler on a previous generation A6. If this started to fail, it would allow oil and water to mix?
Also, as others have said, you can get condensation forming if ALL your trips are short, but I would recommend once a month leaving the car in a lower gear for a while on your quicker roads, to keep the revs up above 3000rpm for a few minutes. That might help - in the same way that they recommend you to drive cars with a DPF (diesel particulate filter) harder now and again , as this increases the temperature and helps the DPF start a regeneration (soot burn!)
What none of this explains is high oil usage...
