If this is a silly question, please bear with me. There are so many inexpensive inductive charging pads available, would they work better than the integrated unit? I'd be using one of the USB-A ports in the center console for power (mine looks like the picture listed above - one SD slot and two USB-A ports). Or would the limiting factor be the power from the USB port? If it would charge more quickly, I would just affix it to the top of the OEM pad and power it with the adjacent USB port.

I'd rather not use a cable and/or store my phone in the cup holder...unless there is no other option.

I am using a USB-C charging cable with my iPhone 15 Pro and it works fine. So the amperage from the USB port is certainly adequate. I would think a 3rd party charge pad would do fine.

But I don't have an adjacent USB-C, only an A port.

I found the placement of the charging pad in my UK car far too difficult to use, under the armrest, side mounted and need to open a large clip to insert the phone. Plus my phones got too hot and charged too slowly.

So I went with this magsafe option, far easier to use and fast charges.

On my old 2020 s8 the charging was negative or barely flat if running android on trips. I actually kept a charging bank in my car for fone, earpieces and workout watch.

I do miss the car, thinking of maybe buying a pre covid A8 w low miles of I can find one at the right price

Both my 2021 Arteon and my 2020 A8 have terrible charging on my Apple 14 Pro Max. I believe the issue is the island on the back where the camera lenses stick out making the phone not rest flat on the charging pad. I say this because all my other charging pads including my friends' Android Qi only will charge the phone fine (albeit the Qi at a slower speed.) The Audi and the VW both regularly say there's another object present OR they just quit charging after I make a few turns. If I fiddle with the phone a bit it may start charging for another 2-3 minutes. The other wireles charging pads I position the phone so that the camera island hangs completely off the charging pad.

That's a great point and I have noticed it too. Not sure what options I have other than plugging in a charging cable at this point.

My phone died. S24+. Wireless charger was used and 40 minutes later it was at 17%
