Default "Piano black" trim teaser...

Here's my piano black trim prototype, enjoy!

I got mad that I couldn't diagnose my car without bringing it somewhere, so I had to resort to desperate measures tonight! This will hopefully replace the ugly wood in my 92, if it ever runs right. I'll have to sand off the drips around the edges, there's no way around them

The first time I tired this (sometime in July) it didn't work, but the epoxy seems to be curing just fine tonight!

Default It's going in a platinum interior.

Originally when I thought of the idea I was still planing on swapping a black interior, but I held one of the painted pieces up to my platinum interior last week and I liked it.

Once I figure out a way to make multiple pieces I can let you know.

Default Sand, paint, glaze.

The glaze coat is the same type of stuff they use on the factory wood to give it a really deep finish. It takes 72 hours to fully cure.

Default Did you pigment your flow coat?

The epoxy is incredibly UV sensitive without any pigment added. When doing wood on boats you actually apply the stain after the epoxy to protect it from the sun. Even adding a couple drops of the black paint to the epoxy mixture will increase it's lifespan greatly.

Looks great btw.
