Default $170 for dealer O2 sensor labor?

Allllllrighty,

so it's time to go to the dealer again for some more work.

My car's emissions have gone down dramatically, and I am now getting roughly 200-300 miles to my tank, as opposed to the 450+ I'd gotten back in the summertime.

I know for a fact that my O2 sensors are bad, and I've already purchased the parts (OEM Bosch 3-Wire, Heated Sensors) from Autohausz. I called today to see how much it'd cost for them to install them, and I was told $170 dollars. Is this reasonable? I think I remember reading on here that with the OEM Bosch Sensors, this job could be done in less than an hour, and I believe I recall someone even saying 15 minutes...

What's the deal here?

Thanks.

Default Do it yourself. I just did one and it took me 15 mins. (and I'm not a mechanic!) It's easy with an..

O2 sensor socket (open on one side) which are about $7 at Kragen. Save yourself some money.

I didn't do the photoshop, but it appears someone thinks it will damage your harness...

Default I've never had a problem with that style socket. It comes in handy for lots of other things, too.

Default So guess what? They shipped me the wrong part...

I finally got both O2 sensors out of my car, I installed the drivers side fine, but then, upon taking out the second sensor, realized they shipped me the WRONG ONE.

So now I'm off to call and bitch and have them overnight me the CORRECT part... GRRR.

Default In my experience, they won't overnight parts at their own cost

over a year ago I got brake pads from AutohausAz and the sensor wire was damaged from being wedged between 2 of the pads, probably direct from the factory like that.

Long story short, they wouldn't even send new parts unless I paid for them first and then went thru their process for returning the bad parts. Big hassle. I installed the damned things the way they were and spliced the broken wire myself.

Overall, they're pretty good. I was less than impressed in that case.

Let us know how they treat you on this one.

Default WOOT! UPS RED TO THE RESCUE

So, I called them first thing this morning, and told them about my issue. I said to the guy, Paul, that I had a problem with my order and that I had recieved the correct part (and gave him the number) and then instead of the second correct part, I recieved an incorrect part (and gave him that part number as well). He told me that he could ship me a return shipping label and I could return the wrong part to him, and he'd ship me the new one.

I told him that this was no good, as I needed the parts installed on my car yesterday (somewhat true...). I asked him if he could bill me for the correct part, and ship it to me, which he said he could do. I then asked about shipping and again reiterated that I needed the part YESTERDAY and it was an inconvienience to me. He said that he could overnight it to me via UPS RED so that it'd be there for me tomorrow.

It's already in the mail.

Hopefully they'll get it right this time!
