Default 100s, 230k miles: just purchased (what should I be looking out for?)

I (a poor college student at Ohio State) just bought a 100s with almost 230k miles from my aunt. The car is clean & in great shape and most of the miles are from the highway, but things are sure to go wrong...and when they do, I would like to be ready. My last car was an '87 civic...so this is quite the step up for me, and this car needs to last as long as possible.

I have been reading many of the posts, but would like your opinion on the most common problems that I should be expecting, as well as any preventative maintenance that you think I should perform.

...the oil pressure light just came on: oil levels look to be fine how immediate is this problem, and should I follow the same procedure as the A4 described here: https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/320512.phtml

Default I afraid to bring the news, but Audi (like any other Lux. German car) is high maintanance.

So I am not sure, that this is right car for you.

Ask you aunt, when the timing belt was replaced.

Check oil, CV boots, leaks. Replace air and fuel filter. Everething else should work fine. Well the good side, for 230K car most of the stuff, what could posibly brake already replaced and if it lasted 230K, what it whould not last another 100K. So good luck.

Default Your car is quite different from the A4 1.8t...

The issue is likely to be different. I would start by getting an oil-change. Like "ARK" mentioned -- it could be the "intermittant oil pressure switch or instrument cluster warning circuit".

HTH,
Manu
PS: Go bucks!
