I just got a pioneer head unit for my Audi 100s. The problem is that the wiring harness i got that is supposed to fit in my car leaves out the red plug. When all connected (without this plug) the radio doesnt work. Does anyone know what to do about this?

I am assuming that what you mean by the "red plug" is the switched electrical hot lead, and if so, yes, the radio will not work. My 91 100 factory radio was not switched by the ignition. Therefore, I had to find a switched lead (one that when the car is turned on, the radio turns on, but when the car is turned off, well, you get the picture). If you have a test light, find a wire and put your key in the ignition and turn it on. If the test light glows when the key is off, then keep looking. If it is dark, and then lights when the key is turned on, then you have gotten a wire to tap.
As an alternative, you can hook up your red wire with the yellow wire. However, each time you get ready to leave your car, you will have to manually turn your radio off.
By the way, do you have the antennae in the windshield? If so, you will have to be sure and hook up the antennae amplifier.

If you have power to the yellow wire and the red wire, and it does not turn on, then you do not have ground. Furthermore, if your car has the Bose system in it, you will need to rewire your speakers as well. Bottom line, if you are not electrically savvy, you probably need to take it to an installer. That way you have a safe, clean installation.
