Default 1990 Model 100 Cruise Control Woes (Longish)

I bought this car afew months ago & am in the process of sorting out a myriad of problems. Have replaced a window regulator, timing belt, water pump, all tune up stuff, fuel pump (which drew blood) & recently, the gang of switches for the headlights & cruise control. The latter was precipitated by high beams which worked only infrequently & the cruise control which worked only briefly after the car's purchase. Replacing this switch cluster I'd hoped would take care of boththe high beam & cruise control isssues but only successfully addressed the former. To troubleshoot the latter, I've confirmed the servo will hold a vacuum & that the brake pedal switch effectively breaks that vacuum. (Haven't checked the brake pedal switch electrically yet.) I also hot wired the vacuum pump & it too appears to function. I'm really trying to avoid pulling the dash apart to get to the control ECU & wonder if anyone has a suggestion for bench testing the speed sensor or any other words of advice. Thanks for the help.

Yes, sir. That's where I saw that to do extensive troubleshooting, I'd have to pull the top of the dash off to get to the control ECU. That effort looked like a son of a gun. BTW, forgot to mention in my original post that, yes, I have checked the fuses!

Default You sir, are in the wrong forum...:)

Bring your 1990 100 over to the 5000/200/V8 forum and join your fellow type 44(Audi 5000/100/200/V8)owners...

Maybe somebody over there will be more familiar with this subject since those cars are somewhat similar...?

It's got a little electric pump with a solenoid evidently moderated by the cruise control ECU. It's mounted in the fender behind the overflow container for the radiator.

Thanks, Steve. I wasn't sure where I should be, being a newbie & all. I'll follow up over there. Thanks to all who've responded.

Default Common mistake...

I wish the hierarchy here at Audiworld would get that fixed so everyone knows where to go for help...

Hope someone can help you over at the 5000/100/200/V8 forum...

Anyways, welcome to Audiworld!
