That's the part number for the hatch strut.

However there are two listed, one for

"vehicles with reduced flap opening angle". - it has a C on the end of the same part number.

What is that, and how does one tell if the vehicle has it?

reduced flap opening is for shorter people who cannot reach the rear hatch to close it.
it was a convenience item that most likely was changed at the time of purchase

Ahh, so it does not have to do with the car, just shorter shafts.

Wunderbar.

Default I just got the strut from McMaster Carr. Cost about $14 each there. Work Great.

goto www.mcmaster.com, the catalog page 1138 I think. Product number 9416K2 I think (be sure to double check against the ones you have for approx similar dimentions. I use the 120 lbs force option..but the 110 may work well also.

They fit right on to the mounting points of the car properly?

Dealer wants 90 each. Impex wants 50 each. Guy i know wants 25 each for OEM ones.

If these are comparable to OEM or better, 14 is great.

screw the old ends onto the new gas springs. They work just great for me. You need pictures and directions of this...just let me know.
