96 A6 Delta Radio Removal Instructions?
hi all
trying to figure out the AM problem of the radio - took apart the rear d-pillar and played with the amp and it is one possible suspect - before I shell out $160 + tax for a special order part from the dealer I would like to test the connections behind the radio - the bentley cd shows to use VW 160 (two radio removal clips) on the radio but I do not have 4 pinholes on my radio... I do have two "slits" toward the bottom two corners of the delta radio... is this where I insert a tool and pull the radio out?
instructions would be appreciated - thanks

Yes, you have to insert the tools into these slits and pull. If you do not have the tools,
you can make them from screen door rollers. The rollers have a long flat piece of metal, wide exactly as hte slots. You have to cut the ends at 45 with a metal scissor. Insert these pieces in the slots, make sure the cut(s) are positioned towards the inside of the radio (towards each other). Unfortunately, these tools do not have the "hooks" of the original tools, therefore you have to pull (pry) the radio out with a small screwdriver.
It might seem difficult, but second time is easy.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RADIO CODE!

cool...
how about using sheet metal instead? and cut the sheet metal to be the particular length? the other option is to use an old credit card... that might work as well... I did not know about the 45 degree angle so that is a good thing to know
about the radio code, I found out the "cross my fingers" way that my radio does not have a lock code =) thanks for the tip though!

Re: 96 A6 Delta Radio Removal Instructions?
I used the thin ends of two cable ties (5mm wide ones). Just push them into the slots as far as they will go and then pull the unit out using teh cassett slot. easy.
