Good afternoon friends,

My Audi A6 has trouble or doesn't shift from 3rd to 4th gear. Engine light came on and code reades "0652 gear monitoring implausible signal" My mechanic said I need a new (or different) transmission. I'm not convinced because I have read several forums regarding similar codes on VW's and its Solanoid valves or TCM (Transmission Control Unit). One guy replaced both his transmission and TCM and still had the problem.

Do any of you have any insight as to what the problem may be? I hope you don't say I need a new tranny. I took it to a transmission "specialist" today, we'll see what they say......

Not shifting in to forth gear may be a bad torque converter, the wrong ATF fluid level, bad ATF, water in the TCM, bad wiring, etc. I am just guessing. I never had this 0652 code, so you need to learn more about it and then check the wiring before spending a lot of time and money on the wrong thing. Sometimes the terminals are corroded.
