I'm having trouble finding a set of trans cooler lines for my '97 A6 Avant Quattro Automatic. The pressure line that goes to the cooler from the trans has rusted and is leaking.

From what I have found, the 98-00 trans lines are different (please correct me if this is wrong). There are a few sets on eBay for the 98-00 models but I haven't been able to find any for the pre '98s.

From what I can see, i *think* the 95-97's are the same. But, I can't seem to find any.

There are numerous places that sell universal cooler kits, with the lines (usually rubber though). I'd rather not go through the trouble of removing the cooler and such though. It would be really sweet if there were some braided stainless ones available that I'm not aware of.

Can anyone help?

Also, would it be possible to make my own lines out of rubber, or would that be a no-no?
