Default A6 Power steering fluid

Need to add some power steering fluid to my 97A6QA. Do I need to buy Audi stuff from the dealer, or can I just use generic stuff from any car parts store?

Default Audi/VW only

The power steering fluid is a hydrolic mineral oil. I don't know if the generic stuff at the store is the same, but I wouldn't risk it.

Default You want Pentosin. Some auto parts stores have it.

Default Re: A6 Power steering fluid

You need that Pentosin mineral oil. You can get it cheaply at: WWW.MEGAPARTS.com

If you use regular power steering fluid in your car, it will eventually eat the seals on your rack and pinion causing it to leak. One of the most common Audi mistakes made.
