Default A6 Sun roof Issues

I have a '97 A6 Avant with a sunroof leak, any ideas where and how I can get the seal replaced. Additionally the sunroof control seems to have a mind of it's own, sometimes it opens the rear of the sunroof on it's own, any ideas?

THANKS

Paul

IIRC it's the same controller as in the passat. I'd bet the pot on the rotary switch has got damp at some point

Default there is no seal!!!

Theory of sunroof states, that cabin is not sealed. Instead there is a system of rain chanels to evavuate a litle watter, sipping though the gap between sunroof panel and the roof. In case of C4 cars, it is usual to get rear rain chanel broken from the sunroof panel. If you want to check it - put sunroof into the tilted position and check the presence ov the rain chanel.

Default another thing is the control

moonroof is equiped with the child-neck-in-the-window-sensor. This sensor is prevent closing and reopens sunroof, if there is some resistance while it closing. If the rails get rusty, they will provide enough resistance to confuse computer and make the sunroof reopen. What is worst, the rear rain chanel is sliding on the rails and it is usual to have it stuck and brake from the moonroof panel (this is where the leak coming from ).

Search the forum. At least five people around have similar problem.

Actually the moonroof/cloth liner portion that attached to the sun roof has detached, this could be in fact causing the problem. Thoughts??

How could I give my mechanical detailed instructions to fix?

Thanks!!
