AC question

My AC works, but I hear what sounds like a relay clicking on and off constantly. In STFAing, I read that this is proabaly due to low pressure in the freon system. My fans do seem to come on with the AC.
Should I just take it to garage and have the system recharged?
Also, I read that there is only one recharge valve on the system, but mine has two. Anyone know for sure the layout on a 97 A6?
I would appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks

If it's cycling of and on alot, that's probably a sign that the system is low on R134a.
You could charge it up yourself and R134a is cheap at Walmart ($10 for 12oz can). Search the forum and you'll find where someone was talking about obtaining the fittings needed to charge through the low pressure side (suction side).
If you've not done A/C work before, it might be worth it to take it to a shop.

if the system is cycling you first need to figure out why...
low freon will cycle the system but so will high pressure.. and you don't want to over charge the system or you will be sorry..
If the fans are on high with the AC on the pressure maybe too high and the fans are on the cool the freon down.
As far as the valves go, you should only have a high pressure valve on the front of the condenser.
The only other port is a service port for the compressor which is not for charging..
If you look in the FAQ you should see where someone posted my link to the adapters you can use to access the low side via the low pressure switch by the fresh air intake
