Default there is a plastic flex point on the back of the pedal that broke

three options:

1. leave it as is, maybe remove the metal tab

2. buy the new pedal assy for something like 60 to 80 buck and install it in 5 minutes

3. try to repair it with:
a. jb weld gluing the top to the mount
b. find the pivot point and drill a hole through the pivot into the base. Install a shoulder screw with a washer. Mine has held up for two months now.

https://forums.audiworld.com/a6100/msgs/14196.phtml</a

Marcogyver what does the little flex pedal do. I sat in the car a couple of days ago while it was idling, didn't have any shoes on(don't remember why, pushed on the accelerator to rev it a tad and noticed when i pushed that little peice down it didn't do crap. What gives?

Default My guess is for ergonomics (sp)? It allows the pad area to tilt to match the angle of your foot

and this little plastic flex point takes all the wear. Just image instead of door hinges they were replaced with a heavy duty plastic that just bends back and forth each time you open the door. Not going to last.

Now I understand stuff is going to wear and breakdown but I wouldn't have designed an accelorator pedal this way. Suppose your driving and it snaps and causes an issue with braking and/or accelorating. I call audi of america on this part just to have something logged.

Default Happend to me too, Zip ties work great...

Same thing happend to me 3 weeks ago. I took 3 zip ties and attached them to the pedal. One was to hold down that stupid little wire spring-thing, and the other two held the peddal. One at the top of the plastic cover and the other at the bottom. I only had white ones but if you could find black ones and put them on it, you would never even notice they were there. It happens to the best of us.

Default DON'T pay someone to do this and most of all not 90 bucks!

If your not capable of bending under the steering column then give the paperboy 30 bucks to do it. I am serious....its that easy! I think you can pick these up for 65 buck for the whole assy....www.germanautoparts.com

I still don't get why you guys are securing it to your pedal, i touched it with my bare foot and it doesn't rev the engine or add gas what so ever. Heck my freind has been driving his car without it since he bought the car, he didn't know there was suppose to be something there until i told him. So what does it really do?
