Default after shut down clicking-grunting noise

i have an audi 100, 1992. the car makes a clicking noise and then grunting after the car is shut off; the sound seems to be located to the lower panel left of the steering wheel; it has drained the battery twice. incidentally i had a shop unsucessfully attempt to install a remote start 6 months ago.
any thoughts,a mechanic looked at it once and could not locate a problem.

proably the window relay behind the panel. Its a common thing with this year car. Mine had the same problem. I wound up just pulling the relay out to stop draining the battery. Good. Luck

i think you are right, the mechanic called it a lock actuator/vacuum supply which is quite an expensive box ap. 500 dollars. thanks again for your help.
