Hey all,
I just hooked up my Blau receiver from my 90s to my A6 Avant. Removed one wire and switched one around in the factory harness and voila - instant music.
Two questions:
1. The red wire is supposed to be switched 12v? I am getting no power from this wire. Any ideas?
2. If I decide to replace the speakers, what would you recommend?
The stereo works fine, the radio reception is getting intermittent crackles and the driver's rear woofer is out. Not pleasant. The sound is really crappy too.
Thanks.

When I changed my radio recently the switched ignition power source was being supplied by the constant, just split in two. I am not sure if this is the same on your car but it seems logical as otherwise why would the buzzer be connected to the radio if it switched off with the ingnition?
Not to sure but crappy sound could be the positive and negative round the wrong way. It wasnt a bose system was it, but I think that wouldn't work at all.

buzzer, what buzzer?
I did notice the two power wires. But then the stereo never turns off unless you turn it off. Does locking the doors turn things off?

No, locking the doors doesn't turn it off, (my mum wasnt listening when I told her.......then she complained when the battery went dead!!!). There is a buzzer if you have they keys out, radio on and open the drivers door (same as leaving the lights on), it is activated by the radio antenna being up. Therefore it doesnt work properly with aftermarket stereos as most only have the antenna up when the tuner is active.
Turn the ignition on and see if the wire that is supposed to be switched has any power running through it. Mine was literally connected to the constant power.
