Default AHA! The strange noise coming from the back wheels is a bad wheel bearing, not a brake issue.

Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. The driver side rear wheel has some play in it. The passenger side has none.

Guess I'll return the 2 calipers I bought! Don't need 'em.

Have a strange noise too!! Does it sound like an exaust leak kinda? Mine is real loud for about a mile when first started. Car doesn't want to roll, humming noise at highway speed.

Default I have this too!

Mine is a loud hum at 45-75mph then goes away gradually. Same wheel as sam5. I figure it's the tire but I haven't checked the bearing. Car rolls fine. It's a 93 100s 5sp non-quattro.

I just realized my driver side has some play in it too. Not sure about passenger side though. When i go over bumps i can feel the wheel moving to the side if you will. They have to be big bumbs and it has to hit just right. That beaing is probably gone.

Default My noise is a grinding/squealing that comes and goes. It's unpredictible, no certain speed...

triggers it.

I just got a quote from Midas to change the bearings for $110. Debating on whether or not to do this myself. Parts cost at any auto shop is less than $20.

Mine is a squelling noise for the first mile or two depending on how slow or fast i drive. It seems to effect how the car rolls. I can feel it coming out of the noise and then feel like whatever is holding it up is lifted and it isn't as bad. Seems to be worse when cold.
