While driving the AC sometimes will turn off and there is no indication of it being off other than the vent air temp climbing and getting humid (the AC symbol remains on the screen). The way I can tell the compressor shut off is to press the recirc button which puts the symbol on the screen and quickly goes away. Now if I just shut the car and immediately turn back on the AC is functioning and very cool. I know it is not a lack of freon because I had that two years ago which the AC wouldn't get cool enough and if I shut the car and turned back on the compressor wouldn't kick back on.
Could this be a faulty high pressure switch but why would cycling the engine reset it?

only be done by VagCom and not blink codes? I have Bently but I seriously need to breakdown and get the VagCom.

No VAG-Com needed. You access the codes through the climate control display. Hold the Recirc button and press the fan speed + button you should see 1c on the display. You are now in the diagnostic mode. You need a list of trouble codes you can find that list in your Bently or here at the link.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/int5.shtml</a
