Anyone replace there pressure relief valves under the valve covers?

Default Anyone replace there pressure relief valves under the valve covers?

Wondering if this maynot be our problem with noisy cold starts?

I am wondering if the by pass valve in the oil filters I am using is the the problem.

It's called gravity. When the car sits, most of the oil drains to the pan. I started using the Mobile one filters and the noise went away. It has some kind of check valve in it to hold some of the oil in the top of the engine.

Default Re: Ahh, yes this is what I am suspecting at the moment

along with the Mobil 1 filter I understand the audi/mann and possibily the bosch filter have good quality check valves in them. Appreciate your feedback...

Default Replaced them - HUGE difference

In my case, i had lifter tap worse when car was warmed up, although it was still there when cold. Unscrewing the valves revealed BOTH had their springs popped out and were blown apart. I had to fish them out with a coat hanger, ANYWAYS it was HUGE difference after putting in new ones. Dealer gave me the "All Audis have valve noise" crap about 1 yr earlier. Sometimes you just gotta do it yourself.
