I need to decide between keeping my 97 volvo T5 wagon or buying a98 Q5 2.7 wagon that Ihave found. The volvo seems to be quicker, but the audi handles better and has AWD. I have never owned an audi. What are your thoughts? Both have automatics and I would prefer a 5 speed but haven't seen any for sale.

Selling one wagon and buying another will take a lot of money. So if it is practical to keep Volvo - go with it. You can compensate for AWD by having good summer and separate winter tires.

I like Volvo's appearance and safety reputation. Volvo has bigger brakes. If you want something fast - look at S6. On the other side:
- audi has quattro. Even Volvo with AWD not as good because quattro is mechanical and it has instantenious reaction. Electronic AWD takes time to engage.
- turbocharger is another thing to break.
- audi is more "upmarket". (sounds very bad, I know, but rich people drive audis. They do not drive Volvos.)
- I like audi's internal appearance.
- I do not like Volvo - Ford relationship.
