i have never gotten a good answer to why Audi does not tie the radio power to the ignition switch. why always turn the radio on and off.
Anybody got any idea why they do this. anybody got a quick fix with out replacing oem unit??

I don't like the 2-hour turn off feature. If you want to listen to the radio in the car leave the key in the accessory position.
Besides, who wants to leave the radio cranking for 2 hours while you're in the store. It's a stupid idea if you ask me.
I replaced the head unit with a new Blaupunk with a built in CD player. Picked up the unit for $189 and it rocks. It's the MP-3000 model so it plays both CD's and MP3 encoded music. It's cool being able to get 150-200 songs per disk.

Did you use a harness adapter to get the new radio to work with the factory system? My A6 does not have the Bose system and I would like to replace the stock Gamma unit. I want to keep the harness factory and would like to know the source of adapter harnesses.
