I have about 208K on my 97 A6Q. Yesterday I noticed that the when I put it gear it took several seconds to engage. This morning when I was driving to work the trans seemed to be slipping (high reving and reduced forward movement).
Is my tranny on its last legs? Any diagnostic tips?
Help from the Audiworld C4 braintrust is greatly appreciated.

verify proper fluid level
check for dtc's
verify the position of the shifter matches the display on the dash matches the readout in VWTOOL or VAGCOM
consider changing the fluid and filter.
If none of that helps then you may need a trans rebuild or swap in a good used one. They can be had for $300 to $800 if needed.
