then go off after about 2 minutes or if i step on the gas for a couple of seconds then the lights go out. i do not have the hand brake up.. i have a 97 a6q with 110,000 miles , this started sunday. we had a very bad weekend with heavy rain and wind. could it be that some wires are wet? or is the battery dying after the hard winter we had????any help is very much iappreciated i am referring to the lights in the center of the dashboard...

What does your voltmeter read?

could be ur ign switch problem. Each time it happen, switch off and start ur engine again. It should be back to normal for the second time. I've encounter similar prob and 've follow the same procedure each time.

did the alternator light got misplaced on the warning parking indicator?

check your instrument cluster first (shorts) then the alternator

as soon as i step on the gas it goes between 10-12. when it starts up between 10-12 the lights do not come on.. does it sound like a battery?
