I know this same topic was covered a couple of days ago, (on 1/8/02) but I two blown bulbs in the dash, on my 1995 Audi A6. The one that lights the gear selector, blew last night and the one that lights the clock blew last week. I tried to follow that link, that was posted on how to fix it but it no longer works (the URL address) How hard is it to replace the gear selector bulb and does it HAVE to be soldered.

Just did my gear indicator and temp. units today. It took a total of 1 hour to remove them, take them apart, de-solder and remove bad bulbs, solder in new bulbs, and put the whole works back together. It is a delicate solder job. I have good equipment that made it easy. My eyes still hurt from looking at all the small stuff. (My wife says it is because I'm getting old. I told her time for a mid life crisis and I'll be right back with a new $60K toy- figured it would be ok since I was saving $500 or so on new gear and temp indicator units). But I digress.
One of the more satisfying jobs because when you are done you can say $%&*# you Audi and your replacement parts $$$.
Have fun!
