Brake "popping" back on reverse
It hasn't caused any problems yet, but I thought I'd see if anyone knows what this is: When I go in reverse (usually after the car has sat overnight) after about 10-15ft of travelling the brake pedal will "pop" up, pushing back against my foot. There is a slight metallic pop noise associated with this. I mainly notice it on a downhill reverse when I have to apply pressure during the downhill. Anyone else get this or know what it is? Thanks!

Re: Brake "popping" back on reverse
There is a 'bell crank' on the caliper for the rears that is used for the parking brake system. It is really obvious if you take off a rear tire and probably needs cleaning and lube
Check it out!

Actually sounds pretty normal......
When the car sits over night the rotors start to rust almost imediately. Depending on what pads you have, the pads can actually fuse to the rotors. Most metallic pads will do this. When you move the car in the morning, the ABS system thinks that the brakes are locking up and will try to correct it, which is the reason for the pedal popping up. What kind of pads do you use? Do you have a lot of brake dust?

Re: abs?
It's the ABS performing a self test. Don't worry about it. It also happens when the you lock the rear diff and it opens back up, the ABS will test when it comes back online.
Used to happen in my 90 100q when I'd turn off the ABS. When I turned it back on, it would do that. The 93 100q does it shortly after I start moving.
