Default Brake/Battery light problem

While driving I noticed that the instruments became dimmer than normal, even on the brightest setting. Also noticed that the Brake warning light was very dimly lit and the Battery light acted like it wanted to come on very dimly. Stopped the car. Turned the ignition to on and both lights lit dimly, not normally. Car starts fine. The battery light all but goes out but brake light is very dim. Checked hydraulic fluid, brake fluid and V belt. Seems OK. Any ideas? The manual says it might be an electrical problem (Big surprise there).

Check if the earth wire is not corroded or has worked itself loose.

Default Called my mech. He doesn't think alternator.

I tend to agree with him since the battery seems to be holding a full charge. Seems by now it would have been dead running the seat heater, lights etc. Perhaps electrical wiring somewhere? Who knows now.
