Default Brake Light indicator

My "brake light" indicator is on, however my bulbs are not burned out. Any ideas anyone.

How are your front brake pads? If they are worn down to the sensor, that may be the source.

Default I think this only happens in Canadian models. In US models....

it shows a light bulb with an X through it. I would make sure that ALL of your blights work, inlcluding your 3rd. Then, check with VAG for codes. Finally, check out the switch on the brake pedal.

The e-brake light is what comes on when your pads are low. At least, true of earlier models.

If it is a Can model 92-94 the red brake light should indicate low brake fluid or e brake on. The pad sensor should show up as a (O) in the self check system in yellow and sound a ping when you start the ignition and also the OK will not light up.

Default Not the ebrake light

On the little screen in the dash it says "brake light" its not the X indication which I had when a headlight buld went out and its not the red ebrake light, nor is it the brake lining light, (O). I was reading in some other posts, which stated that I should use original Audi bulbs because non Audi bulbs can trigger the sensor to show a false indication. My vehicle is a 1994 Audi 100s, originally shipped to and sold in the Boston area, I still have the original paper work

Default Um, welp, just check the bulbs with a known good Audi bulb.

Other than that, recheck all your connections.

Default Re: Not the ebrake light

I've just replaced some of the dashboard instrument lights on my A6 (1995) and this has prompted error messages too - all because I used 1.2w instead of 1.1w. More sensitive than my wife!

Default on mine there are four lightes: (0), "Brake Lights", ABS and red "BRAKE".

(0) means pads are worn or bad connector
"Brake Lights" means, that some stop lights (including third light) are out (or bulbs are incorect)

ABS means ABS is out

red "BRAKE" lite mean, that e-brake is on or that you have SEVERE PROBLEM with your brakes (like broken brake lines or low brake fluind level).
