Hello, i have a 96a6q, i hit a curb the other day.... and i went in for an alignment and they told me they couldnt do anything with it because i had a broken strut mount. I havent had anytime to inspect the car(too busy with school), but has anyone heard of the strut mount breaking or busting? The car makes a loud popping noise when turning the steering wheel. Is there any other possibilities of another peice breaking, or is it most likely the strut mount that busted from hitting the curb?


Also if i find out it is infact the mount that broke, i am probably going to go ahead and change out the front struts. Just want to go over a list of parts that should all be changed out while doing front struts.
-2 new struts
-2 new dust boots(mine are both torn)
-2 new upper mounts(should i replace both?)
-2 new bump stops(should i replace them?)
I think thats all i need, is there anything missing? TIA, Mark

it might just be the upper mounts that are bad
but if its over due then change it all

Easy to change and the mount can be had for around $30-$40.

When i go to inspect the car, how can i physically tell if it is the upper strut mount that went bad?

Check the rubber for cracks, bounce the fender, see if it moves.
