Make sure you don't have a broken driveshaft or CV joint somewhere, I think one broken one will cause the problem you describe.

You can also ask over at QW.

My axles and cvs are seem fine. Do you think it could be in the transfer case?

There isn't a transfer case... there's a front diff, a center diff, both built into the transmission casing, if either is shot, you'll have to replace the transmission. There's also a rear diff which is separate and not that expensive used. I don't know how to tell which if any is bad. You may have some luck if you put the car on jackstands and rotate each wheel then rotate the driveshafts and listen for odd noises and make sure the opposite wheel turns as it should.

Look underneath, if any drive shafts or drive flanges off the transmission are moving while in gear but the car is not you have a broken axle joint or possibly rear diff. If not you may have a failed transmission.
