Try a smaller hardware store and your local VW dealer might have the same part cheaper.

If you're talking about the caliper carrier (P/N 443 615 425A), its $62.94 at www.autohausaz.com.

Default Been There Done that. Cheap and Easy fix

I assume you mean the caliper bolts and not the carrirer bolts right? If so, you'll find what you need @ Ace Hardware. If you have the actual bolt, bring it with you. If not, go to Russian Etka and get the specs (head, pitch etc..) Don't ever waste your time going to HD or Lowes to find bolts for your car. 99% of the time it's not gonna happen. Now Ace isn't Eden, but it is close enough. They have the right head and pitch in the 8.5 you need. The only differance in the new one I bought was that it was 1/8" longer SInce it goes all the way through the strut assembly this is no big deal and poses no clearance issues. Just remember to get the 8.5 or better. The cost is about $2.00 if you want a stock one they run about $20 and can be found online @ world impex and such. After you get this taken care of, do yourself a favor and find a new mechanic. I have never seen a reputable mechanic, put a stripped bolt back on. Nor have I ever seen one that didn't have a replacement rolling around the shop somewhere. I would have guessed, they either would have replaced it for free or added $5 or so to your bill.

Your best bet for carrier bolts is the UrS forum from guys who have upgraded their brakes.
