with my master key, I can open the trunk by pushing in the key at the trunk and turning to the most left. I can turn it twice and open all doors. However, leaving the key slot vertical on the trunk and unlocking the doors by pushing the UNLOCK button from inside the car, the trunk can't be opened. I have to either push the button in the glove box or go outside and use the key.. how do I fix this?

In reading the Owner's Manual, it states there only two ways to unlock the rear lid: using the key or the glove box button. My Avant doesn't have a button in the glove box to open the rear hatch. But the hatch is unlocked when I unlock the car using the remote, which only applies to the Avant.

but the trunk key cylinder has to be in the right position. I forget which is which. But it's a valet mode. So if the lock cylinder is left in one position, the trunk unlocks with the rest of the doors. When rotated 90 degrees, it only unlocks with the key or the glove box button.

what i:m saying is that when i unlock the door (4 doors), it should unlock the gas lid and the trunk lid as well, but it doesn:t.
my trunk lock is in the position where it isn:t locked. according to the manual, it says all four doors, gas lid and trunk should unlock when i unlock the door from inside the car. mine doesn:t do that though.

see what isn't working. Maybe the linkage needs to be adjusted, maybe a servo motor is kaput, maybe a vacuum line has become disconnected/broken, maybe it just needs to be lubricated.
The panel comes off easily with a phillps screw driver and about 2 minutes of your time.
