Default Clogged Catalytic Converter

I have 95 A6. I have severe power loss and it diagnosed as clogged Catalytic Converter. So the gas cannot go out!

They told me $2000 for replacing Catalytic Converters.

Can I just clean or unclog the converters?

Bring it to a local exhaust shop and have them weld in some aftermarket cats.

Default What's the inlet outlet diameters?

I can see aftermarket universal Catalytic Converters at many different inlet outlet diameters.
There are many sizes from 1.75" to 3"
It looks like I have to weld.
what's the correct size to buy for 95 A6 quattro?

Default Be sure you know what Caused the Clogged Converters

I always caution people to find out why the converters clogged in the first place, before changing them. If they just failed structurally, (which is not very common) that's one thing. Most times they collapse, or fuse due to excessive temperature, which can be traced to faulty fuel management. It would be a shame to replace the cats, and then melt down the new ones due to an underlying problem elsewhere.

Default Re: What's the inlet outlet diameters?

Does anyone know the diameter of the catalytic converter of an Audi S6 2002 4.2L. Also, if you know the rest of the specifications, it would be great. Example: Length, width, 3 way, number of oxygen sensor per convrter,...
Appreciate your help
