Coolant leak

I have a coolant crust formed at the junction of the expansion tank and lower and thicker rubber hose....
It was all dried up but when I tigthened the clamp I saw a drip....
I had the expansion tank changed 2-3 yrs back with the one I bought from autohauz....
Now I wonder whether it is the expansion tank or the thick rubber hose....which has the leak
I was wondering how easy it was to change the expansion tank and hose....Do I have to bleed all the coolant...I have seen procedures for bleeding the entire coolant...but was wondering if there was an easier way...as all I have right now is a parking lot.
Thnks

Simply undo the top hose, undo the screws that hold the tank to the body. Lift the tank up and pour the contents out into a shallow pan or whatever you can fit there in the engine compartment.
Then unplug the coolant level sensor wire underneath the tank.
Next, disco the lower hose and have the new tank ready to go right onto the lower hose. This will keep you from leaking coolant everywhere.
Tighten the hose clamp, plug the sensor wire back in, mount the tank reusing the screws, fill it to the MAX mark, put the upper hose and cap on, and you're done.

Thnks for your reply....
Pardon my ignorance but can you elaborate on the word "disco"..(frankly the lower hose is the one I am really concerned about...meaning spilling coolant everywhere)
Also I hope its not the lower rubber hose which needs replacement....
Do you think I should with another expansion tank from Autohaus or go with the Dealer ?

If you're that worried about spilling coolant, pump or siphon the reservoir clear of fluid before you disco the lower hose.

Regarding spilling out of that disco'd lower hose, the trick is pouring out the reservior and then lifting it up. Remember, this is the highest point in the cooling system. Especially when you lift it up more. You're not going to lose hardly any coolant at all.
Price the dealer tank and if it's only 10-20% more, it's probaby worth it. Otherwise, maybe it's cheaper to just hang a new tank on every 3 years or so.....even more economical when you do it yourself.
