on my 92 100 cs with 170K miles, the cruise will work for a while, then kick off. it may or may not work again for a while. mostly, it doesn't work, but once in a while it does. also, the high beam flash (pull it back to flash momentarilly) works once in a while, but mostly not. both are located on the same stalk. is there an electrical gremlin in it or maybe just a loose connector? Is it hard to fix?

You seem to have an intermittent electrical connection. The fact that both the cruise-control and the high-beam flash are on the same stalk are no coincidence.
I don't know how the stalk is assembled but I would guess that you either have a problem with the connector (loose, corroded, etc.) or the cable itself.
The cable in this part needs to "flex" as you use the turn signals and flash the high beams. Over time the repeated flexing can cause the wires to break on the inside which will result in intermittent contact.

My cruise control wouldn't work, and then it would after a few hours driving on the highway. Found the vacuum hose for the cruise was rubbing on a metal part and wore down a bit. Didn't even wear all the way through. Bought a little lenght of hose and it worked fine.
